Reprogramming the right miles into a new speedo?

Canged mine out during winter. Ordered from Zanottis. They actally called me to ask the milage, and had the new one out to me in about 2 weeks.

Not exactly....if you order from a dealer,it is my belief they personally record the mileage..in my case i got my $499 speedo/tach on EBAY for $200...it came from Canada but reads in MPH...wasnt about to go thru the hassle of having the mileage set...

People do it all the time with used speedo's from places like ebay and craiglist. Not saying it is right, but happens more than you think

When I bought mine I was told that the ECU also records mileage and could be used to verify the mileage of the bike if necessary.

Peterbilt would not do it for us,said it was illegal,put a sticker on the door what mileage speedo was changed at.

Seems like our service dept at dealer said WE will reset the miles. I didn't ask any deeper.

I replaced the stock speedo with HD's speedo/tach combo, the dealer asked me what I wanted the mileage to read...never looked at my bike. It took about 2 weeks to get.
