Default Indian Motorcycles, seen one-anywhere?

The new Indian Motorcycle Company had the grand opening of their flagship store back in October, along with a factory tour. They started shipping motorcycles in December. Here it is July and I haven't seen a single ride report in any of the motorcycle magazines. Does that seem odd? New model reports are in almost every issue of every motorcycle magazine I pick up, whether domestic or import. Kinda makes me wonder.

Also, has anyone seen one of the "new" Indians on the road anywhere?

There was a trailer at Loconia that was showing all their new models and they looked pretty good. Don't recall seeing any on the road tho'...

I saw one at Thunder by the Bay in Sarasota Florida back in January. It was parked in line with all the others so it must have been a private owner and not a factory display. The bike looked and sounded pretty nice. Didn't have my camera with me.

Seems like they had bad timing coming out with these high priced bikes in this economy. Not a lot of people around right now looking to drop that kind of cash on a bike.

There have been a couple ride reports that I read in a couple different mags, but you're right the coverage otherwise has been pretty minimal. As far as production goes, they are only manufacturing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 bikes annually. Hard for me to beleive that they could only produce 1500 bikes a year be able to cover all of their expenses, much less make a profit. On the other hand, when a Chief Vintage sells for $35,000 compared to a Heritage Softail at $18,000 it sure makes you wonder. I've always liked Indian's and I'm glad to see them in business making bikes again. I just hope that they can survive this economy.

You'd need to mortage your home to afford a new one. Only RUB's can afford them.
