And I wonder how many of the helmet-at-all-cost-for-everyone type folks realise that because they don't view the reward to danger ratio as acceptable, everyone else shares their views.
Some people have decided for themselves that the risk is worth taking for the reward offered. If you don't think like they do, feel free to wear a helmet and remember you can do so because you have a choice to do so. They should have the same benefit as you did.

Personally, I wear a helmet but think it should be each rider's choice. LA law has flipped back and forth several times in the past years, currently requires helmet for all riders. Legislature just turned down chance to let voters decide on the issue again.
Whatever your choice, ride safely...

His neck is certainly broken and the cop told the deer if he were wearing a helmet at the time of impact he would have been dead for sure.

A coworkers brother hit a deer Thursday. He was wearing a helmet and a well protected riding jacket. The only problem he is having is that his knee really was wracked in the accident (just street pants on). They are using the helmet to show how they save lives. Thought people might find the pics interesting.

Yeah... the helmet just slid on the ground. Imagine your skull "just sliding" on the asphalt.

I would like to add to that. I have no problem with people that are too stupid to care about their well being or their family. But and this is a big BUT...If you decide not to wear safety gear then I would demand the following:
1. Proof that your health insurance has no cap on it. (I don't want my tax dollars paying for your stupidity)
2. Proof that you have coverage that will take care of your family in the event you're a vegetable from your smart choice.
3. Proof that the coverage you have will indefinitely take care of all the above.
4. If you have that, then be my guest ride naked for all I care. I however will not support your choice if you do not.

Just got my first harley after riding metrics for 30 years, and was thinking of trying it without the full-face I've aways worn, until a bird flew into my face this weekend while I'm doing 65. Startled the crap out of me -- But I think I'll stay with the full-face a while longer!
