Some people have decided for themselves that the risk is worth taking for the reward offered. If you don't think like they do, feel free to wear a helmet and remember you can do so because you have a choice to do so. They should have the same benefit as you did.

A bit touchy, aren't you? The OP just posed a question, didn't seem to be preaching to anybody.

Personally, I wear a helmet but think it should be each rider's choice. LA law has flipped back and forth several times in the past years, currently requires helmet for all riders. Legislature just turned down chance to let voters decide on the issue again.

Whatever your choice, ride safely...

His neck is certainly broken and the cop told the deer if he were wearing a helmet at the time of impact he would have been dead for sure.

Now don't anybody get your knickers in a twist, I am just trying to have a little fun.

That's why a FF helmet is the minimum I will wear. No novelty or other helmets. I'm betting most folks on here don't wear FF because they want to have the "look"...I hope these pictures convince you that an intact jaw and face and allot more important then how someone else may think you look.

Yeah... the helmet just slid on the ground. Imagine your skull "just sliding" on the asphalt.

1. Proof that your health insurance has no cap on it. (I don't want my tax dollars paying for your stupidity)

2. Proof that you have coverage that will take care of your family in the event you're a vegetable from your smart choice.

3. Proof that the coverage you have will indefinitely take care of all the above.

4. If you have that, then be my guest ride naked for all I care. I however will not support your choice if you do not.

Would you apply the same to people who undertake other risky activities - skiing, snowmobiling, taking a bath, climbing a ladder (to change a light bulb, paint, or whatever)?

Every time I think about riding with something less than a full-face, I usually get hit full-on in the visor by a big slimy flying insect. So, never got around to "losing" my helmet. A bird, though, that's not happened to me. Reminds me of that scene in "Wild Hogs" when John Travolta gets hit by a crow. Funny stuff.
