Question Chrome, acid, and chlorine in Florida

Living in Florida is great, but pool chemicals and bikes in a humid garage can do a number on the chrome. Pitting and corrosion namely.

Does anyone know of any other chemicals in the garage which can cause similar damage such as fertilizers, lawn nutrients etc which may have a certain amount of pH which can damage the bike?

Any help well greatly appreciated for my 03 FXSTB and 09 FLHX. Thanx!

Muratic acid, lawn fertilizers, pool chems, spare car batteries are some that come to mind.

Get a Shed!! Don't keep that crap in your garage you are just asking for all kinds of problems!! Oxidizers (Chlorine) and Hydrocarbons (Fuel) don't mix!!!

Good to Know. Try living on the ocean in Florida as well. We are constantly trying to get the microscopic salt residue off of all the chrome even though they are in the garage and not directly exposed. It's in the air.

I bought myself one of those plastic sheds to keep all my pool chems in. I left a hatchet in that shed for a period of time. Now it's covered in rust.

I know this probably wouldn't work on the pipes but have you guys tried to use a good chrome polish and put a coat of wax on the chrome? Just wondering if this might help??

Cool Fll

In FLL I use Collinite. It's what we use on chrome, stainless and polished aluminum yacht metals.
