Default parking space

After reading the post regarding which car is more likely to cut you off, I was wondering about where you park your bike in a lot.. near higher-end vehicles? Or as far away from Any vehicles, as possible! Seems that the folks that paid more for their cars, take a bit more care of their doors, & are less likely to 'bump' you, either car or bike... but then, maybe it's just in my little town! lol

First off, I hate parking anywhere and leaving my "Boy" unattended. But, I usually try to find a space far.....far.....far out of the mainstream. Just my $.02.

If I can't find a striped out space more than large enough for the bike wih enough space around to keep it from getting bumped or an empty parking space that I can park right in the middle of, I'll often park on the sidewalk right outside where ever it is that I'm going. I keep it out of the way of foot traffic as not to be a nuisance, and I'm usually right next to a couple other bikes also. Best part about running errands on the bike is the rock-star parking.

Good topic. Reminds me of a tip I can pass on. Years ago I backed my Harley into a parking spot and went all the way back to the rear tire almost (luckily) hitting the curb. I came back later to see that a car (perhaps a little too fast) pulled into the parking space and hit the crash bar on my Heritage . The tip off was the scuff mark in the asphalt made by my side stand. He backed the bike up a good 8-10 inches.

The lesson I learned was that since there was a car parked in both spaces on both sides of my bike the average motorist (if he was in a hurry) wouldn't see there was a motorcycle in that center spot and shot right in. With hind sight I'm glad he stopped when he did.

Now I park with the protruding part of my bike sticking out nearly as far as the protruding part of the average automobile that's parked in the area. It's alot easier for motorists to know there's a vehicle parked in that spot.

I park where ever a car is least likely to pull in. I'll take the parking ticket vs park where it will get hit.......it's a lot cheaper. Plus, I have parked in the no parking area many times and never got a ticket yet. Lot's of LEO's are bikers.

I park on Sidewalks (its legal here) or in Motorcycle only parking (every lot has them) or if no where else back it in at a angle with front out far enough (in line with cars) perferably 2 bikes in one spot.

I always park right out front. In the way I don't care. At Motels under the canopy or in the Lobby.
Never got a ticket and no one has ever touched my Bike.
