Default More engine questions...Dyno or build first?

Well, as I said earlier the money tree's crop is not too good this year. I was thinking about a 95" build. I am also thinking about a Dyno tune. I have a stock motor with se 203 cams, samson baffleless fishtail pipes and a pcIII. I loaded a new map last night and it made a big difference in performance. Imagine that. Is a Dyno going to make that much more of a difference in performance? I don't know as I have never had a Dyno tune on my bike. Or...should I do a 95" kit budget build and tehn get a Dyno? It might be a bit until I can do the build as I have other financial obligations at this point in time.

I found this guy in the softail dyno section with a setup similar to mine (Reino 79) with what I consider to be great numbers for baffleless pipes. fI know I lose a lot of low end without baffles. Don't really care. Scroll down to his Dyno sheet.

So the question is...should I get a Dyno and see how it helps the ride, or save the Dyno cash and build when I have the money? TIA.

It is always good to have a base run before wrenching so you can see what gains you have made and where.

If you take it to the person that will do the post build dyno they will probably do a base run for free.

+2 and you can get an idea of what your AFR's are - running rich or lean anywhere.
