G'Damn rain! ...frogg toggs? or no...
lookin for some good raingear and need help comparing 3 different rain suits. they are the...
Frog Togg, Road Toad Action Rain
Frogg Togg, Leep Frogg Reflective
and the Tour Master Sentinel Jacket and pants
Compactness is the most important factor for me. The Frogg Toggs look like they can be packed smaller then the sentinel, but im not 100% on this.
Next there is the ballooning factor... The Leep Froggs say that they have an anti ballooning cape, but the Road Toggs say nothing of this... anyone have any experience with this? I really dont understand the difference between the 2 frogg togg suits.
Also the Tour Master Sentinel gets much better reviews and looks wayyyy better, BUT it doesnt look as packable and lightweight.
Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Having just spent awhile trying to find a rain suit to my liking I can relate.
If I HAD to choose between only those three, I'd go with the Tour Master. Because after reading up on them, I found that the Frogg Togg stuff isn't designed for motorcycle usage... The Leap Frogg seems to be a little more geared towards bikers with the anti-ballooning false cape however...
Tour Master Sentinel:
PROS
- Reputable motorcycle apparel company
- Sturdy construction
- Designed for motorcycle use (sizing etc)
- Multi colours available
- Pant zipper attachment
- Great pockets
CONS
- Seems to be cut pretty long (jacket)
- Pricey
- No stuff sack
Frogg Togg Road Toad
PROS
- Stuff sack
- Good price
- Lightweight
CONS
- Material
- Pass thru pockets
- Not designed for motorcycle useage
Frogg Togg Leap Frogg
PROS
- False Cape to reduce ballooning
- Stuff sack
- Lightweight
- Price
CONS
- Material
- No pant zipper
- Bomber style may ''ride up''
I ended up getting a Nelson Rigg set up called the SR-6000 Stormrider Two Piece Rainsuit. $53.09 for an XL set - Jacket and Pants included. I highly recommend it!
Hope this helps!

I can give you my opinion on 2 suits and I've used both in HEAVY rain extensively. The Frogg Togg material is extremely thin and melts/tears easily. The zippers leak and the regular Toggs will ballon making you look like the stapuff marshmello man. I can't recommend them for motorcycle riding. The other is the HD packable. Pretty nice 2 piece suit, IMO. Durable and pretty watertight (for a while). It packs small enough (for me). My only problem with it is it can be hot. Realize that NO rain suit is going to keep you 100% dry. Water WILL leak in. Mostly around the neck and crotch... But the money I spent on the HD packable was well spent IMHO.

In my experience Frogg Toggs are OK for riding around town, but if you get on the highway you'll get wet, big time. They leak thru the side pants pockets, the lower leg zippers and the sleeves. The snaps that hold the side pockets closed easily pull out of the material. And mine balloon so much that it's hard for me to see out the mirrors. I don't know if Frogg Toggs makes a suit for riding; mine is just a plain old suit I got at Gander Mountain. I just bought a Tourmaster Elite II. Haven't used it yet, but it's got to be better than what I have.

H-D Gore-Tex was the best money I've ever spent on rain gear. I had a set of Frogg-Toggs and got soaking wet in a thunderstorm. Had a Tourmaster one piece. Good suit, but hot and difficult to put on. I've been in some downpours in hot and cold weather and the H-D kept me 100% dry and comfortable. If you are serious about all weather riding, you won't regret the investment.

Seriously, if you guys are looking for rainsuits to ride in, you need to buy one made for riding. It's going to cost you, so if you want cheap, buy cheap and live with it. Face the fact you will get wet sometimes, you might melt on the pipes, you might balloon up, water might creep in the openings, whatever.......If that doesn't appeal to you, go out and buy a MOTORCYCLE RAIN SUIT, HD, Tourmaster, something made with riding in mind. The golf parka is not the answer ......
