I bought a rainsuit from J&P for about $60 and it did a good job, that is until I outgrew it. I agree that the Gore Tex is probably the best, but very pricey. I bought a pair of gore tex gloves and they were $65.

I'd have to disagree. I have 2 different rain suits, one a Nelson Rigg and the other a Tour Master. I have had them out in a few torrential down pours. Neither one leaked, no where. Now depending on the type of helmet you use I guess there could be leaking around the neck of any suit. I wear a full face helmet always so the collar seals out the water. Neither one is very packable, but I wanted one to stop the water more that packability. I guess they could be rolled up in a small roll and stowed in a saddle bag. I just have one at home and work, just in case rain hits so I can go home, or to work, and not have to wait out the rain. The only problem is with either one is that they are hotter than hell in the summer. You either get wet from the inside out or outside in. Once the rain cools off the road to sub 80 deg it should be fine, but if it is any where around 90 deg it is very very hot in the suit.

Guess what I like most about my HD gear is the boot straps to keep the legs down. The anti flap velcro helps a bunch with ballooning. A guy riding with us had Frogg Toggs and as some here have said-melted the legs on his pipes. Plus left a black smear on the pipes as well.

Rain gear is not a place to cut corners. Nothing is more miserable than riding in a downpour with crappy rain gear.

HD raingear works great, albeit a bit pricey also. Sure beats the poncho from walmart!

I have the same one. Works great! Been raining around here for what seems forever! I stay dry. If you wear a 1/2 helmed like me, use the hood or you might get leaking around the neck.
