maybe its because some have spent a lot of money on their bike, and are selling it as is..
I paid 18k for mine and have added a little over 7k in parts and motor work.
If U did that to your bike and wanted to sell it, do U think you'd want more than one that was stock, all else being =, cond, miles. looks.

when i buy a used bike i dont pay for extras, i just go by kbb and condition/miles. any mods, if they dont scare me away from the bike altogether, figure $0 into the purchase offer.

May be it is just me talking. As far as mods go, I am only willing to pay 10 cents on a dollar. Everyone has different taste, your mod does not necessary fit into my liking.
A few years ago, the resell value of HD was relatively high since the demand was high. You need to wait for a few months to get a new one from the dealer. Now there are plenty of Harleys at the dealers. Not too many willing to buy, everyone is holding on their money.

well first they blaze off some weed then think of how many rubles they need to buy XYZ, how stupid the masses are and meet those two in the middle. thats how alotta people seem to price out their HD for sale. some fetal alcohol victims seem to think $150 pipes an some chrome somehow doubles the value or keeps a 5-10yr+ old on par with a brand new ride. its amazing what drugs can do to peoples minds.

I too, have wondered where they come up with these prices. It amazes me how someone is trying to sell a 3,4,5 year old bike for as much as the current model lists for, and some of these bikes aren't much more than bone stock. For that kind of money, I will just go buy a new bike and dress it the way I want it. All I have to say to them is Good Luck.

Just wanted to show you all what I meant:
Here is one of list on CL:
====================
Harley Davidson Bike 2004 - $19800

2004 Harley Davidson FDXI superglide lowrider. Screaming eagle lowrider custom.
Too many custom updates to list (at least $20K in upgrades).
==========================
WTF, I don't get it
1. Why would someone put in $20,000 in a bike that cost less than $15k new.
2. 2009 Lowrider has a bigger engine and 6 speed than 2004
Damn, there are a lot dumb riders in HD land.

well, some people would see your $7k motor work to be worth extra, and others might see it as a liability. i guess it would depend on whether they trusted the person or shop that did the work, and if they wanted the same mods.

That's why they have to try to sell them privatly.Other wise you could just trade into dealer and get the bike you want,without the hassle of dealing with alot of dumbass's.

I think people figure Craigslist is free so why not.
Put it for a little high & just see. (Not MY way of doing it...)
I agree with Dogtownmax - look it up on KBB & figure condition & mileage.
What amazes me is when the ad says "Must see to believe" & then they don't post pics!
