Default H.O.G. Rally

Hey, ya'll,

Since this is my first year with a Harley, I don't know what to expect at a HOG rally. We have one coming up about 4 hours away from where I live in Minnesota and I'm thinking about making the trip.

What can you tell me about it? Fun? Worth the trip?

They are typically low key, and family oriented. They are a fun destination to ride to, but not much on nightlife, usually not much in the way of vendors. I have not been to a H.O.G. event in a few years, but I doubt that they have changed much.

I went to the Ohio rally last year.It was pretty lame.Just a parking lot full of bikes.I didn't ride at all.I just went and picked up my package of stuff.(It was a bag of coupons and ads from local bars and hotels. And also a turquoise shirt.)I mean come on a Harley turquoise shirt is very lame. All for $40.Not worth it to me.

The Georgia HOG rally is in Helen, Ga this year, which is near the mountains, so at least some good riding can be had. There's a couple of decent bars to get stupid in. I might just do a day trip if it's as lame as you guys say it is.

A bunch of old fossils looking at you crossly wondering why you're not wearing 3 grand worth of Harley gear......

Like someone mentioned, it's going to be what you make of it.

A HOG rally is NOT going to be like Sturgis. If you want to party all night you probably wouldn't have that much fun.

But for me, it's all about the RIDE. I'll find something to do once I get there even if it's the most boring thing I've ever seen in my life. Heck a group of us used to ride 100 miles just to get a burger.

Go and have fun. It's only $40. If you don't like it then mark it off your future trips.
