Default Thinking of upgrading cams

Looking to add SE-211 cams to my twincam 88B

The dude in the service dept said this is really the only other minimally invasive,
not quite as expensive option to eke a bit more performance out of it and still keep it
nice and rideable

I already have SE high performance aircleaner/breather, V&H bigshots, PCIII, harley stage1 map.

Can anyone give me an idea what kind of gain I'll get in torque and horsepower
with these cams? The guy recommended them but couldn't provide any numbers.

I am getting 105TQ and 95 HP with my 96 @90 ABSL.

That said, this cam might be a bit more peaky in an 88. I think the 203 cam would be a better choice for you. It is pretty close to the 211. But comes in a bit sooner.

IMO there are better(and cheaper) performing cams out there. Check out the Woods, Andrews and HQ cams. I just installed the Andrews 26 in mine last weekend and really like them.

A HD employee recommending a HD cam...Who woulda thought?...LOL.

I agree there are other good choices out there. I'm also a Andrews 26 user and really like them.

If you aren't going to do any other mods, you would be very happy with the Andrews 21.
I sure am.

I can't give you numbers, but.......

I put the 211 cams in last year. I noticed a nice, but not substantial improvement. It was noticeable and worth the $$ to me. However, I just had the rest of the 95 kit installed with heads and pistons, MAN!, now that's what I'm talking about....

Anyway, back to your question. Yes the 211s alone will wake it up a bit, you'll like it.

I'm thinking this is the one you mean?

288121G 21G 10/30 220 255 .498 .134 Stock Bolt-in 88 cam: more torque for all-around riding with heavy bikes; intended for stock compression ratios and pistons. Similar to #23 cam in EV80. (1700-4800 RPM). 40/08 228 264 .498 .121
21G cams run great with fuel injectors or carburetors!

Installed 21's in a stock 88" with dealer stage 1 download - no other fuel management - bike runs great. Woke the motor up nicely given it was a cam only mod. Pulls better, especially when riding 2up.

With a cam only change, no headwork, no dyno tune, no big bore kit... you are not going to gain huge numbers. But, with one of the mentioned bolt in cams, you will feel the difference and notice the motor is running much better. Well worth the money for a those of us with limited funds.
