I have test rode a lot of the HD models, but haven't rode any that I would consider trading my Fat Boy in for. The Fat Boy feels like it was custom built for my size (5' 11") and riding style.

rent one and go for a real ride, then you'll be able to figure out if you still like your softail better.

Same here. The original poster probably doesn't know the Fat Bob comes with either mid or forward controls.

When I did the demo rides last year, the ONLY bike I liked as well as my v-rod was the Fat Bob with forward controls. Because I'm 6'6" tall, the mid controls would not work for me at all.

Although I liked the Fat Boy, the Fat Bob handled so much better. But like the original poster says, he's no expert. But it's nice there are so many choices out there, one for just about anyone.

I thought it was strange when I felt the same after trying out a 09 Street Glide. I loved the fairing with the stereo and the hard bags, but, I honestly thought my Heritage rode smoother and the seat was 10x more comfortable.

Had a similar opinion after a demo I did last year on a Streetglide.

I want to like a Tourer more than my Softail but can't.

Next year at Americade I hope to spend a whole day doing demos. Nothing like burning someone else's gas. Maybe Honda will decide to show up and I'll see if GW lives up to the hype.
