Zepfan . Yes Harley COULD produce the HP the same way Buell does it , but, the way Buell does it ( stroking motor, bigger valves , oil cooler=needed for hp in smaller engine = lighter pistons ect) cost maybe an extra 1000$? per unit . to punch a block out and add a bigger piston cost 10$? per unit. Buell would do the same thing but it has to be light and be in comparable size class ie a 2000cc buell doesnt fit in the literbike class . jake

the reason they sold the original twin cam in the 88" was cause soon after they were charging quite a bit for upgrading it to a 95". and now the 96" go figure. lots of folks have upgraded to the 103" and the motor company is making more money. it would cost no more to produce a bigger bore of either motor, but harley has brilliant marketing strategy. their job is to show us a new and improved slice of cheese each year, and we, the mice, bite at it.
