Nitrogen in tires??

^Beat me to it.
Free air (and the atmosphere) is over 78% nitrogen. You want to improve your performance tenfold over the benefits of pure nitrogen -just lay off the cheeseburgers and keep your goatee trimmed.

Nitrogen won't go boom. Air is about 80% Nitrogen, 20% Oxygen, about 1% of other gases.

I was going to say atmospheric air is already 71% nitrogen, but I see others have pretty well covered it. I'd have to side with the snake oil camp. But seriously I am very concerned about the polar bear habitat being destroyed by global warming.

I had my tires refilled with Nitrogen a couple of days ago. Local dealer did it for no charge with the 10,000 mile service, that's their current promo. Beats the little grill, or the roll bag from last year.
The normal charge is $22 for both wheels.
Might be some benefit with extreme temps in Las Vegas, and elevation changes in mountain runs. Don't really expect it, hadn't been a problem so far. The price (free) was right.

My closest dealer charges $39.95 to do both tires. I laugh every time I see their sign out front.
When they go to fill the tires with nitrogen how do they get rid of all the regular ole air in the tire? Do they pull a vacuum to get rid of it all or just let out all that will come out and then fill with nitrogen? I only run the regular 78% nitrogen.
I think I might put helium in my tires. It should make the bike weigh less which should cause it to get better gas mileage. And if you ever break down you can sniff the helium to entertain yourself while waiting on the tow truck.
