I'm in the indside lane of a 4 laner. 35mph limit. The right lane opens up. I signal, get in the right lane and get ahead of the crowd. Next thing I know, I got red & blues flashing in the rearview.

I calmly hit the signal, look over my shoulder, get into the turn lane, turn the corner, and come to a stop, leaving enough room for the officer to park behind me.

The first thing he said to me was, "I had to pull you over. People were looking at me as if to say aren't you going to do something."

I looked at him, smiled, and said, "O.k."

Then he said, "I clocked you at 55. I know it's fun to zip around but you need to slow down a little."

I, still smiling, (a bit sheepishly now), looked at him and said, "Well, it wasn't really about fun. I was just breaking out of the traffic, but O.k."

He then patted me on the shoulder, said, "Have a good one.", turned and headed back to his bike.

I said, "Thank you.", started my bike and took off.

He didn't even ask to see my license.

Sure made my day!

Bullshit - We don't pay him to pat u on the shoulder, we pay him to write tickets and fill the coffers!!!!

 

Glad he didn't ticket you, but I guess he understood that you were not deliberatly trying to break the speed limit.
You were just trying to put some distance between you and the cagers.

 

good story. When the cagers looked at the LEO to do something, maybe he should have pulled one of them

 

You should have demanded a ticket he was obviously slacking on his responsibility and wasting your time.

 

Wish all COPS were like that, the ones i meet got real CHIPS on there shoulders!!!
