I'm absolutely convinced that when pulled over, cops generally have their minds made up about whether their little roadside visit will make you happy or not...because I was that LEO at one time. Nothing can turn a contact like the one you described into a sour-event quicker than a driver/rider giving an attitude. Lets face it, the LEO already has the PC to pull you over. Might as well be polite and see if your attitude can turn it into a good experience for both of you. In your case, both of you walked away feeling good about themselves.

 

A good thing there are some decent and understanding LEO's out there.Too bad there has to be the knuckleheads wearing a badge and carring a gun that seems to inflate their ego's.It goes to show they are just as human as we are.Where would we be without them!
