Patch it, run it, and ride it, the OPPOSITE direction as that dealer.

I had a similar situation with my previous metric bike, nail into tube. The dealer specifically said it was no issue, they'd patch the tire and put a fresh tube in, it would be fine...

They'll probably charge you an hour's labor + parts just to put the patch in

Thanks all. Hubby said if they (the service people) gave him any more grief he was going to go direct to the owner and give him hell. We've bought four bikes from them not to mention all the accessories, service work, etc. Hubby said he doesn't know why he is so ticked off, but I pointed out that it's because he (and me too) feel like they are trying to take advantage of us, and it's exactly because we HAVE given them so much business, we just don't feel that's the right way to treat us. Believe it or not, I think if my hubby were to tell the owner this, the owner would see our point. He really is a very decent guy and has treated us very well. Unfortunately they have recently had a huge turnover in their service department because there is a new service manager who many of the former service employees feel doesn't know crap about bikes and he is a HUGE BS artist.

Agreed...Tube.

Another reinforcement of why I may buy a bike from a dealer, but never use them for service. Its a shame too....

Take the rear wheel off & bring it to a non HD shop. They will change the tube and patch the tire and most likely charge you less than $50.

Exactly.....I took my tire off, brought it to an Indy, had him do the same thing, put it back on...$40

No problems

I'd bet a dime to a dollar that if you went in with the same reapair and you had a maintenance agreement they would want to fix it..

Treat this like you would a car tire. In the tread, put a patch in it and install a tube even if it didn't have one. In the sidewall, replace the tire.
