Default Getting fingerprints off pipes

I worked on the bike a little bit today before i took a ride and got some fingerprints on the pipes. I grabbed a microfiber towel and some Pledge and wiped them down.

When I got back from my ride I had two small fingerprints burned into my heatshield that i must have missed when I wiped the pipes off.

Any ideas on the best way to get them out? I have some Mothers chrome polish and some 0000 steel wool on hand, anybody try that before or know of a better method?

After you work on your bike, when it is cold I use rubbing Isoprophyl alcohol to get any finger prints or oil off the pipes. But please note when cool.

Fingerprints burned into the metal are actually oxidation. You need to use polish to remove them.

I'd stay away from the steel wool...

I found a can of NeverDull I forgot I had and tried some of it on the spots. Took them right out, good stuff. That's a relief.
