Default Over Pants

Anyone ride with leather over pants instead of chaps? If you do I'm just curious what you use and if you like them. Pros and cons over chaps. Thanks.

I've got some FirstGear leather overpants. I've had them for at least ten years and like them a lot. Pros, they are warmer than chaps and will keep the skin on your butt if you slide down the road. Cons, they are hotter than chaps when it's warm.

Those Langlitz "Westerns" look pretty cool. I'd like to get some someday.

I've got a pair of Fox Creek leather overpants. I wear them over dress pants to commute to work, fleece pants when it's cold (2600 miles in 30-40 degrees last week) or over shorts when it's below 80. Above 80 I'm in jeans... FC is temporarily between producers but the pants are supposed to be back this summer.

I have a pair of custom made ones and they are great in the cold but I hate them because when I put them on I can hardly get my leg over the seat to get on. I am thinking of having some stretch area made in the knees so they can be more flexible.

Bought me a set of these last year. Still holding up very well. Pretty comfy and yes yer bum is protected. Fit well over jeans and slacks. Price was right too.

Interesting post, for years I wore lined leather, got soo hot in the summer. I suppose I'm behind the times, but what a great idea. Just cannot go the assless chap deal. Do they make them with thinsulate or something for cold weather rides?
I've worn coveralls in the past but they don;t cut the wind, and you look like a dufus, or is it doofis?

I don't have leather overpants but I do wear Tourmaster venture overpants. They have a zip out liner and protective armour. Pretty warm in the winter and waterproof in the rain (like this morning).

I have a pair of Chilhowee over pants that I use over my slacks to commute to and from work.

They are comfortable and keep my slacks from getting dirty from the road and bugs. How ever I'm not real impressed with the quality or the customer service of Chilhowee. First off it took Chilhowee over 2 weeks to ship the pants and only when I suggested they pay for overnight did they ship ground. I purchased these pant last fall and since then my buddy, who does leather aircraft interiors, has had to repair the seams twice.

I like the over pants better then chaps but I won't deal with Chilhowee again.

Not leather, but I have a pair of Gerbings Union Ridge overpants that work great, even when not plugged in.

Not the most stylish things in the world, but who cares?
