what Octane Gas do you use?

RE: what Octane Gas do you use?
I always use Sunoco 94 unless I can't find it, then it's the highest Octane available. I've never put anything lower than 91 in my Night Train.
Cheers!

I don't really know what the octane rating is, I just use Premium and nothing else.

I used to run Avgas, it's a high-octane fuel used for aircraft. I think it was over 100 octane and loaded with lead. I used this in my panhead whenever I went to the Harley shop (It was a combination airport /Harley shop). I wonder if you could run this fuel in the EFI bikes today?

I must be lucky. My Harlely runs just fine all the time. I was using 93 octane premium for a while, now I mix the 93 and the 89 and it still runs great. I usually fill when I am down to about 2 gallons, and if I alternate each fill with 93 and 89, I am running an average of about 91 octane, with a range between 90 and 92.
All the fuel here has ethanol (Illinois is the corn center of the world and corn farmers like ethanol and so we have it), and I confess that it runs just fine, although I know that my mileage is reduced somewhat, and if I am too lean on 100 percent gasoline I will for certain sure be too lean on 10 percent ethanol. Right now I have the stage 1 air cleaner and reflash, but I am running the stock mufflers, so I am a bit rich, which solves a lot of problems. I have been averaging 45 miles per gallon with a mix of city/freeway running.
If this bike ran any better I would just die from happiness, it is so good already!

I have always filled up with the 92 in my motorcycles, snowmobiles, and everything else that doesn't hold over 10 gallons and I am more picky with. HOWEVER, I got to thinking the other day. The experts say that todays gasoline is technically "stale" after 30 days. If this is the case, and with gas prices the way they are, I don't think the good ole Premium (92 or higher octane) is coming out of those underground tanks very fast. For this reason, I started filling up with 87. The bike runs the same, no pinging and I am thinking fresher 87 may actually be better for the bike than older 92. Just a thought.
