I don't match revs, just blip the gas and kick it down a gear, if I'm going alittle fast and the tire chirps, so what. Ride it like you stole it.

Rev matching is an old truckers' technique needed when transmissions were crude and gears would grind if you didn't match the revs or double clutch to help the gears mesh smoothly.

Guys, it's exactly the same as "heel & toeing" when driving a car. It's a skill worth acquiring. Done correctly the engine revs to match the engine speed that will be given when the lower gear is engaged. It's not about "cool", it's about precision and control.

Try it. Practice. You'll like it.

Exactly! Just because alot of people aren't necessarily doing it right doesn't mean it isn't a valuable tool to learn. Some certainly do it because they saw someone doing this on the road and thought it was cool, but it's definitely handy for continued control of your bike.

eggs-ackly.
When you get good at it, it won't even sound like a "blip" but a smoothly operating precision piece of machinery operated by someone who knows what he's doing.

That's all well and good until you have to downshift in the middle of a corner.

Actually ictinike I want and need to apologize to you.
I can be an internet smartass sometimes, not making excuses, just telling the truth.
This internet thing...it can easily bring out the worse in me.

I don't doubt that is a picture of you and I believe your racing accomplishments. I honestly wish I could claim your talent. I can't.

I'll make a deal with you if you will allow me to...
We'll agree to disagree with regards to rev matching. And who knows, maybe someday we'll meet up on the road, you can show me how to lean off like that and I'll buy you a cold one.
Deal?
