Default Riding with small children

On Friday I saw a guy with a small child behind him on the seat on a Road King. The rider was wearing a kidney belt that had a small backpack on the back with two grips attached for the child to hang on to. The backpack sort of pushed the child back into the backrest, and the grips kept the child holding on. The kid looked safe, and very happy.

Great Idea!! I don't know if he made, or bought it, but it looked great, and safe for the child.

There's a company in Canada that makes these belts. Thought about getting one so I could take my 5-year old boy for rides. But I'm still undecided on the belt thing.
But I think it's a great idea. Check it out: http://www.childridingbelt.com/engprod.htm

I like this idea and it's gotta be better for the kids than stuffing them in the tour pak!

Coaster, that's the one I saw. The kid was maybe 3 or 4, and looked really safe.

Thanks guys....my son has been asking me to take him on the back....I'm getting thesideplates and backrest for my FXD but was still a bit hesitant...this looks like the answer for piece of mind, short of getting a full-on tourer...THANKS!

Thanks for the heads up on your thoughts about it. Maybe I'll give it a try soon. They run something like $120 if I recall. I had emailed the company last fall.

Joanne and I had a chat about something like that a while back. Our little one, now 5 yrs old next month, wants to go on Daddy's "big noisy bycicle". Joanne would prefer an RK with sidecar - I'm not convinced. Another consideration for me is how would I feel about myself if ever anythin bad happened while my little princess was on the back.
