I feel the same way. That device sure is cool but man would I feel bad if I had a little one on the back and something happened. Heck, I get nervous with the wife riding with me sometimes...

Again, it is a cool little device...

Some of the greatest memories I have of my dad were riding on the back of his old Yamaha Seca early 80's...wouldn't trade it for the world. Sometimes you have to take risks to create memories, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. JMHO

I couldn't agree more! There was a post in the off-topic section before comparing the things we used to do as kids that are considered downright irresponsible today. Do it responsibly and have fun. My only consideration is if I'm going to use a harness or not. But at the end of the day everyone has to decide for themselves I guess.

I like the idea too. My little guy will be six this month, he rides with me some and loves the new couch on the back of the Ultra. He just leans into the backrest with his arms on the rests and gazes around totally relaxed. Ah the life of a child.....no fear.
The belt would have been comforting to me last year when I had the RK Custom. I don't think he would go for it now though and I feel pretty secure with his riding abilities now. He does wear a full face helmet, gloves, jeans and jacket when he rides[sm=biker.gif]

I agree. I do however limit my 5 year old girl to rides around the block and to school occasionally. Her legs stick straight out the sides, and she holds on to me. I wouldn’t take her very far. She used to be my “little gas tank pilot” on my dirt bike, and I remember many times getting back to the truck with her asleep in my left arm. I had to get into neutral without the clutch to stop. I wouldn’t want to risk it on pavement. My wife falls asleep on the back sometimes, but she doesn’t go into a deep sleep like a little kid does.

Dont't Quote me, But i asked a state trooper friend of mine about the laws in wisconsin.
He stated that any passenger has to be able to put their feet on the passenger foot pegs.
I dont know if this is a law in any other state.
So what i did was make detachable pegs that mounted to the bars in front of the bags on my
road king, my son started riding when he was 4. he always hung on to my belt behind me.now he has gone on long trips sience he was 8.
that is also when his mother started to ride her own bike.

Back in the 40's, with the old buddy seats they had then, my dad would set me in front. It was so cool when he let me steer. Hell, I didn't know the difference then and thought I really was.

A while back I posted on how my daughter almost feel asleep on the back of my bike and said I was considering getting one of these belts. I remember everyone giving me a lot of crap about it saying "I must be kidding".[:@][:@]

I've seen people with these belts and think they are a great idea. Even saw a kid completely crashed out on the back in one of these and looked really safe. I am still going to get one for longer rides with my daughter.
