Default May is Motorcycle Safety Month

Here are some interesting facts that I found:
* Motorcyclists are about 35 times more likely than passenger car occupants to die in a traffic crash, per vehicle mile traveled
* One out of four motorcycle riders in fatal crashes in 2007 were riding their vehicles with an invalid license.
* 41 percent of motorcycle riders who died in single-vehicle crashes in 2007 had blood alcohol content levels of .08 g/dL or higher.
* 20 percent of passenger vehicle crashes result in injury or death, and an astounding 80 percent of motorcycle crashes result in injury or death.
* In nine years, motorcycle deaths have more than doubled in the United States. From 2,116 in 1997 to 5,154 in 2007... not a pretty trend.
* Half of motorcycle fatalities in single vehicle crashes relate to problems negotiating a curve prior to a crash.
* Almost 60 percent of motorcyclist fatalities in single vehicle crashes occur at night.

I think you are kicking a dead horse trying to promote motorcycle safety here. Other than "loud pipes save lives", they don't want a real discussion on the topic here.

We are all well aware that riding a bike, driving in a car, riding in a plane, out boating on your Crestliner, taking a shower, working with electricity, playing with natural gas or propane, not looking before crossing the street, running with scissors, driving under the influence: is dangerous. There are countless Thread on just this subject. Are you asking a question?

Dammt!!! Keep looking for the 'new' "Start Seeing Motorcycles" commercial we saw last night. Cannot locate on line, YET.
AWESOME ad, and informative to the 'cagers'.
I am going to keep looking, will post a link when I find it.

Found it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xMfk1msw9A

Shows the inside of a car from pass's side, guy driving, at an intersection. Looks left, looks right, starts to pull out, BAM, motorcycle hits the drivers door, AND THEY are showing it. Point out, how E-Z it is to MISS us, EVEN when looking.
Then they replay the same beginning, only this time, he looks left, looks right, and looks left, THERE THE SCOOT is, in the background, closing fast. EVEN I HAVE to admit, the FIRST time they showed the ad, I DID NOT see the scooter in the background. IT IS that second look, they want peeps to make. VERY WELL put together ad.

Here's some of the ones the MMSC and DPS put out every year.
