Shopping for another bike. Live in So Cal and see a lot of stuff out-of -state. Wondering what the DMV rules and costs and procedures are for buying a used HD from another state? Anyone with experience on an out of CA purchase who can weigh in on this?

 

It needs to have 7,000 miles on it. If it's less you need to take a nice long cruise around the country until you hit seven thousand. After it hits seven thousand you can register it just like any other bike in CA. Year of bike doesn't matter. Smog stuff on bike doesn't matter. 7,000 miles matter.

 

There are some exceptions and one is that if your a Ca. res. and your bike gets stolen out of state,you can purchase a bike out of state.The mileage does not matter.

I bought mine in Italy and I'm ok. But then, I am italian, so I guess it doesn't count...
