Twiggy, how tall are you? Looking at your bike (beautiful BTW), the foot controls are pretty forward, I am not sure if I can reach with my foot. The seat does look sitting low. Thanks.

I also put a "HD Reach Seat" on it which gives you a couple more inches.

larger motor, 6 speed transmission, and a longer wheelbase off the top of my head. Of course, the trade off is more weight...

Like you ,I am 5'4" 150 lbs and ride a 01 heritage springer with stock seat only changes I've made, was changing the bars out to a fxsts set because they were around 6" narrower tip to tip. I would also recommend
a softail of some form. A buddy of mine that is our height rides an 01 fatboy. If you get a softail you will probably want to get a set of 4" pullback risers. There's nothing wrong with a sportster either especially one of the "L" series 883L or 1200L. It's hard to beat a softail IMO.

Thumbs up Lower a Softail

I lowered my Heritage 1-1/2" at the rear and 1" in the front with kits from Progressive Suspension. Works for my short A$$...

I am 5'8" and ride a 02 road king. the only problem I have is the seat is too wide causing my legs to be pushed out further than I would prefer. Almost flat footed but not quite. Have a 28" inseam. The bike balance is good so I wouldn't worry about being light weight. I do have a few more pounds than you but can stand with bike and let go of bars. I found my shoulder, back, and chest muscles were getting a bit more tired than I thought they should have been. Realized the bars were too far away. Added the hd "reach" bars two weeks ago and boy howdy is it better! I am ordering the "reach" seat this weekend. Lower's you by 1.5" and 1.5" further forward. I found a 99 softail was way low enough but came across my RK for cheap! I don't mind putting in the money to make it fit me right. My wife who has never ridden and is about 5'6" can pick the bike up off the stand and have both feet on the ground without much problem. She doesn't want the large bike like mine so we are looking at softail's for the smaller bike. I wouldn't shy away from a large bike, just make it fit right. I am not even planning on lowering mine.

5'6" and ride a stalk RG no problem. I only put one foot down when I'm stopped. I use two feet for lifting off the peg or backing up. No problems or close calls. It's all how you ride and think ahead. Get a bagger, start riding, adjust accordingly.
Enjoy the ride little brother.
