I'm 5 ft 4 175 lbs - I currently ride a 883L Sportser with a Badlander Seat. FITS ME PERFECTLY and I love the bike for ME. You're best bet would be one of the LOW models with a custome LOWER SEAT. This is the quickest and less costyly ways to get your feet on the ground. Dyna Lowrider is a NICE bike and with the right seat would have been my new purchase this year with the TRADE UP program. I just could not justify almost paying double for that bike when I have my Sporty. If you're looking for a touring type bagger bike- I can't help you ..otherwise look at the 8883L / 1200L AND THE Dyna LOWRIDER

Check out a dyna street bob or lowrider... Dynas are the most versitile in my opinion, can be comfy for long hauls or round towners... But go to your local dealer and start kicking tires...

Take a cross country with your son in the jeep, you in the bike...then switch it up when needed!!!

Good to know

Good to know.

When reading the spec sheet on the HD website, the sitting height is very misleading to judge if I can ride or not. The width of the bike (engine and step) kills it since I don't have enough inseam to be flat footed on the ground.

I might have to go the HD gathering place to ask some shorter riders if I can sit on their bike.

Nah, just go to the dealership. They'll let you sit on every one of the bikes and you can call the parts guy over to talk about possible alterations.

Of course, you'll get better advice on here about changes to the bikes.

Hey KKman, if the money is not an issue, what will Dyna lowrider will give you that your 883 or even an 1200 can't give you, the look or the ride?

I am short too. I went with the Street Bob.. not the shortest bike but I like the cruisers.
All I had to do was change out the rear shocks with 11" progressives and I was done. The seat height is still low enough even with the touring seat on it.

Perfect for me. I liked the handle bars on it too very comfy for shorter
people.

If I was to buy any other bikes it would be the low rider or the softail deluxe.

That will be awesome trip. We had half dozen trips like that when he was younger (<18). In the past, I drove my kids every summer from DE to CO (Leadville) or Utah (Moab) for camping and 4 wheeling. Unfortunately, now he is 20, he has other priorities; the old man has to wait.

The bonding between us through building and repairing the Jeep and riding the rocks on the killer trails was the most memorable. He often was my spotter on the trail.

The reason I am thinking to buy a Harley, so that he would not think about buying a crotch rocket.
