Missouri Passes Helmet Law

mcrider1 thanks for the statistics, that should be an eye opener for anyone. I do believe in freedom of choice, but if that choice costs me money in taxes or higher insurance premiums to keep someone else alive after their accident with no helment, then you are now getting into my pocket book and limiting my choices. My only head is too valuable to take a chance with, so I have always worn a helment since my first bike in 1967. I don't really care what others do, but I bet most of the " no helment" crowd have never seen what being turned into vegatable by a head injury can do to a person.

Not trying to be a smart a** or anything, but why is it that most Dept's ride in short sleeves and half helmets? Is it mostly tradition? I know that some of the reasoning is that they want their faces visible when interacting with the public. You would think that the PD's would want to set a safety example for civilian riders. Here in Charlotte, the city Motor's have gone to modular helmets and textile jackets but the Sheriff's Dept still wears half helmets.

Made the call this morning, was very painless and took only a couple of seconds, I will have my wife call, my son, his wife, and then I will call again using my work phone, the more calls the better

I would support this bill if the insurance companies would deny the rider's calims when they fall off their bikes and get road rash on their face or jaw ripped off. They all claim freedom of choice, but then don't want to take responsibility for the poor judgment on their part.

I'll be travelling through MO this summer from Chicago to Tulsa, OK. I don't have to wear a helmet in IL, but I can't carry a weapon. Once we cross that state line into MO, we'll pull over and put the lids on , but we'll also be able to protect ourselves!
