This is good news. I hate wearing a helmet. Now if I can just figure out how to get to work and back in 15 minutes with out riding down the interstate.

It wouldn't matter to me as I wear FF all the time anyway. What strikes me as humorous is that Interstates are statistically much safer than backroads? Remember that the #1 killer of motorcycles is the left turner. Not too many of them on the super slab.

I for one am glad it is finally happening. Every single person I knew that has died in a motorcycle accident (4 of them now) was in fact wearing a helmet. I tell my wife all the time, all a helment is going to do is keep my face pretty for the casket. It's my choice to not wear one. Glad it's finally a legal choice.

The stretch between KC and St Louis on I-70 is the worst road anywhere......and it's basically straight!

You're less likely to crash on the "super slab" but the crash will be more serious (because of speed and the number of vehicles involved). Your more likely to get into a crash on the backroads, but the crash will be less serious (fewer vehicles, slower speeds). This is a generalization, but it's statistically correct.

Most motorcyclist die in crashes under 45 mph. You are correct that the greater speed will affect the severity of the crash but, depending where you are on an interstate there may or may not be more vehicles involved.

Missouri politics have never made sense to me. What on earth is the rationale for forcing us to wear helmets on the interstate but nowhere else? From what I understand, the interstate is the safest road!

I'll probably always wear a helmet anyway.
