Same goes for you. An idea was thrown out there soliciting comments. We all won't agree. Thats whats going on. Exchanging comments and thoughts, lines being drawn.

I have witnessed on too many occasions, bad judgment with concern for behavior around 1%'ers. Its bad, real bad. And although the person ultimately brought it on themselves I always feel bad for that person or persons. While I agree with another poster that we are wasting our time, they can never be won over, it still seems worth the effort trying to encourage them to save them a possible future delima, if there paths should take them to areas where 1%'ers are present.

Its only words at this point. Its more, if they should ever cross that invisible line with regards to the topic du jour. Always hate to see a brother or sister beat down when it can easily be avoided.

Some people have to "tug on supermans cape, spit into the wind, pull the mask of the Old Lone Ranger ".

Bottom line!
If people aren't smart enough to treat others with respect or feel they have something to prove then they deserve what they get. Maybe not all the time but I bet more times than not that is the case.

I rode with a 3 patch club in the late 60's and early 70's. I was voted in but never went full patch due to other things going on.
Since then I have been in many situations around club members and there has never been a problem. Some of the crap stated by posters on this thread is, at the very least, potentially very dangerous. Respect is the cornerstone of getting along in the bike world. Newbies who have no knowledge or sense of history are missing out on some important info. Info that might keep them out of some serious trouble.

I would love to join a 1%er club, the problem is I can't commit that much time to it (call me a poser now) The fact is, I enjoy my life with my family. I know that 1%ers enjoy time with their families but I know these guys ride regardless of weather, time, and convenience. The fact is, the 1%ers that I have met (albeit a smaller group here in Oklahoma) are some of the most upstanding people that I've had the pleasure of knowing. We've had great conversations, talked about families, runs, bikes and jobs.

But the bottom line is that they know who they are. They know who they aren't and they honestly don't give a ____ about your opinion of them. The fact is, the group I most respect doesn't have a chapter here and I haven't met too many of the chapter that runs the state here and there's no application or job fair to join. If they asked me to prospect, I'd consider it.

1%ers aren't the 'scary' people you read about in books, watch on television or hear about in rumors.

the op was about a woman working at a dealership that didn't know about mc's and 1% patch holders, rockers on jackets....How has this turned from not knowing about them to that being disrespecting to them and deserving to have their asses kicked? seems like some of the latter posters may need to read the entire thread and reply on the first part before the thread went south. personally, I respect when it is earned...not a given thing...I try not to judge and I don't start chit with people over a lifestyle but don't expect me to "respect" anyone just by an association with anything. again live and let live

Since this thread has wandered well off it's original topic, and since there are several folks here with inside knowledge of the MC lifestyle, I'd like to ask some of them for a bit of a reality check.

I'm a fairly new rider, and most of what I know about the MC lifestyle is that I actually know the square root of jack **** about the MC lifestyle. I say that with all respect - I've read the stuff at rcvsmc.net, but I know that's just an overview. That said, I'm not looking to be a part of that society. I appreciate the dedication it takes to truly belong in that world, and I know that's not my path.

I don't wear a vest with any logos on it. In fact, the only logo apart from the MOCO anywhere on me or the bike is a PGR decal on the rear fender.

I know that if one happens across an MC group riding on the road, you don't just fall in behind them - you're not part of the group. I know that if you see a member of an MC out someplace, you don't walk up and call him "brother". I know that if something is "club business", it's none of mine. And lastly, I know that you don't talk about an MC in a public place.

Basically, I try to respect everyone that rides, and I don't pretend to be anything but a guy who likes to ride.

Anything I am missing? There are at least 2 1% MCs in my area, and I don't want to accidentally **** anyone off.

Matt

If someone wants to learn, possibly become a hangaround or eventually prospect then I’m more than willing to put in the time with that individual. I am also more than willing to answer questions by anyone who approaches in a respectful way and has a legitimate inquiry. What I mean by in a respectful way is don’t approach in a drunken or offensive way, mouthing off and asking what this or that crap means on my Colors. That is just common courtesy in dealing with anyone.

That being said, I have had a boat for a long time, don’t know squat what it’s like being a sea captain or professional fisherman. Don’t really care to be one but I sure give them a lot of respect. There are multiple sides to all views. Which is the correct view….well it is what you are comfortable with. Most 3 Patchers don’t even notice the “Lone Wolf” or what ever you want to be called, unless there is a reason to be noticed.

You might not want to be in a MC, but its always best to know your surroundings. An interesting observation is that anytime a subject comes up about M/Cs and others, there are many feathers ruffled.

To all of you out there that think those of us who have earned our patch are scumbags…quit watching so much Gangland or SOA and get to know us, you will be pleasantly surprised.
Good post! You have to realize that it can take over a year to patch with a 3 pierce club. You cannot just buy that patch, you have to earn it. Many try and do not make the cut. It for sure is not easy! All a patchholder wants from you is respect. Do not but into a conversation that he is having with another patchholder...wait at a distance until he recognizes you. NEVER touch his patch. You may be bigger and think you are badder than the patch you are confronting, but the rules my club goes by is that if one brother is attacked, we all respond. So if you think you are dealing with one...you may end up dealing with ten. Most outlaw MC's operate the same way.

Another misconseption...1% clubs do not engage in illegal activities. Some of their members may though. Don't assume anything when it comes to MC's. Most of us are just normal guys that are in a brotherhood and like to ride. The reason that you may not see us to often is that we tend to do most of our riding at night.

nomad just ignore em...f%$# em all....this is why I dont even wave to most riders now days unless their in a large pack and aint no weekend warriors in that pack....too many kooks on the road kicken up dust for me to have to wash their ignorance off o' my leathers. Just my .02
Hmmm. the wave thing. An outlaw motorcycle club will never acknowledge your wave. We ride in a pack, 2 abreast with 3 feet between us. When you start with an outlaw club the first thing they teach you is to focus on the road and the bikes around you. The only one allowed to wave is whoever is in the front left position and he will usually only do it to a rider from his own club. We are not ignoring you...just the way we ride.

Always gotta have at least one female around to interject some humor. That was cute.

I'll tell you though, after pondering this thread, I realized how pervasive this poser attitude is.

I talked to a chick who was wearing a knit sweater. The poser bitch had no idea how to knit, and knew nothing of the history of knitting, how yarn was made or that there were knitting clubs - much less understand the hierarchy of these clubs.

It just doesn't make any sense when people own something and don't spend their every waking minute studying and learning every single minute detail there is to know, as well as the entire history, and every single related topic.

I mean, what is someone going to do with a Harley - ride it???
