Default touring bike

I looking to make a cross country trip and would like to know which bike would be the best, most comfortable, and dependable bike to take. I will be riding 2up and would like to pull a trailer. Thanks for any info.

If you're talking Harley I'd say an Ultra Classic would be an easy choice. If you're talking any other brand most of the touring guys I talk to would say a Goldwing.

2 up with a trailer for cross-ountry trip? any of the BIG baggers should do. Are you planning to buy or rent?

I like the UC, but someone said they run hot and when its hot out that could be a problem. But I don't no if they run any hotter that any other bike as I have never rode an Ultra.

Sure would love to do a cross country myself. Only problem is the only person I think I could tolerate for that long is the wife, and she's still working.

When you are riding down the road at 60 mph you will feel the wind.. a bit of heat will not hur you...Just don't run it at idle for very long periods of time???? Oh! BTW... at least a Electra Glide ...If money isn't an option then the Ultra Classic.

There are things you can do to overcome the heat, but it is really only a problem when idling or in stop-and-go traffic.

As for the best bike, under the conditions you mentioned. Your best options are any Harley touring model (Road King, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra Classic or Road Glide) or a Goldwing.

BMWs will do the job as well, but since you are going cross country one of the main concerns you should have is the availability of parts and maintenance.

Heat issues have been addressed by the MOCO and are better on the 09 UC I am told. My
2007 UC has had the SERT and Stage 1 done and it is cooler than when stock. If I were buying a new bike today it would be the 2009 UC. If I had the cash a CVO Ultra in red and black would be the ticket.
