Default Keeping APES tight without stripping risers

Trying to get my apes tight in the risers i stripped 2 of the bolts. Ended up drilling all 4 out and putting in 5/16 bolts. Apes are in there d@mn tight now but bolts look terrible. Any suggestions on new risers or methods to keep the apes tight?

thanks,
ggreen

Strips of emery cloth or strips of alum around the bar will take up the room where you bolt the riser/s and cap/s together...Old trick......You can also take a punch/small chisle and tap in dimples(not the best way due to scratching of bar).....

Parts stores also sell shim stock if ya want to go that way.......

Same here. No problems so far. Torqued to what the stock bars call for.
