Very Soft front brake lever
#21
The year bike is a 2004 Ultra. And it has dot 5 in it. THis is what the dealer gave me last year when I put on the chrome resevoir as well as the manuel says dot 5 also. I've done the lever thing for over three days and I have a good enough lever now to ride it but I'd like it harder, so I ordered some speed bleeders and when I get them in and bled I'll repost as to how it feels then also.

So update on the brake lever: so I got my speedbleeders during the week and also got my stainless steel brake lines, and put them on today after work. It took what seemed like forever to get any fluid through to come out of them bleeders, but since I changed the brake lines also, I figured it would. Anyway, so I got a lot of air out and decided to put the bungee on the lever for a few hours and work on my saddlebag spoilers while waiting for the brakes to build some pressure. So I tried them out a few hours later, and I think the thing can stop on a dime, but the lever still wasn't as tight as I would like it to be, so I left the bungee on it over night and see how it is tommorrow. But it is a lot better then it was before, thanks to everyone who chimed in and offered any words of wisdom. I'll update the post if it got any tighter or not.

Double update: I now believe I have the hardest brake lever in all america, lol, ok ok all of Alsip, Illinois. Anyway, I took the bungee off of the lever yesterday and wow that thing is so tight it's incredible. Awesome tips guys thank you so much for helping out.

Harley dealer charges $85 to fix this and its a caliper removal and cleaning. Ya know this is a common problem. The difference between the Japs and US is that if a Jap mfg. knew this was chronic they would engineer a fix for future models, but in the US the big question is will it last until the warranty has expired!
