Default Tire Problem

I have a question I hope someone can help me with about my back tire. It is a tubless Avon 160/80 B16 Venom-X. Yesterday, I went to put air in the tire and the "stem" started leaking air. I now have a flat tire but it has very little wear.
The question is can I put a tube into a tubless tire?

You might just need to replace the valve stem.

No prob puttin' in a tube, BUT I'd jus' replace the valve if'n it were me.
Did you 'snag' it(valve stem) on something?
Back up, sorry, is it leaking next to the rim, as in torn or cracked where it meets the rim, OR is it leaking from the Schrader (sp) valve?
Torn/or cracked, see above ?.

The 'old' as in original HD cast wheels, were such poor castings, that the valve stem holes were actually all different sizes. Some would NEVER seal with a tubeless valve stem. So we HAD to put tubes in 'em.
On the 78, there is almost 1/4" difference in the diameter of the valve stem hole, from rear rim, to front.

But I 'guess' I'd wanna know, or 'finger' out, what happened to the valve stem, to cause it to fail. Road hazard? Hit it with something whilst cleaning or working on it. Neighbor kid's that I hollered at, last summer. Am I riding TOO MUCH to suit the OL? (Just might NEED some PATCHING/REPAIR there, too. )

what Grump said...
1)make sure the vlave itself is snug
2)change the valve stem.... they're cheap enough.... if it holds air, you're good to go, if it's still leaking (for any number of reasons)
3)then put a tube in.

Have you ticked off a neighbor? or ridding buddy... some folks think it's a "hoot" to loosen up the valve
