Default Am I missing something?

OK. So the new bike I bought has the heel/toe shifter. First bike I've owned with one. I don't quite get what's so great about it. I wear size 9 boots-does that make a difference? To me it's more of a hassle moving my foot to and fro all the time. To me it's much more comfortable keeping my foot stationary with only the front shifter. Just wondered what you guys thought.

you'll get 50/50 split opinion on this. does not bother me a bit. maybe you'll get used to it someday or remove the heel shifter.

i had one on my yammie classic. when i got new boots they were too thick to go under the toe shifter so i had to move to the heel side and i wound up liking it much more. it takes a while to get used to but its cool when u get used to it.

They're only comfortable if they are adjusted to the right height. If they're too low or high they can be a pain to use. But with all other things on your ride, do what's best for you.

I'm a toe man. Never got use to using the heal shifter. Every time I took off from a stop and I brought my feet up from the ground to the floorboards I'd end up hitting the heal shifter and shifting into second. Not too cool. Maybe my size 12 feet have something to do with it.

I'm getting used to it, and in fact am really liking it more and more.

I heard it described as giving the feeling of "spurring" a horse; and that's a pretty close analogy. Plus, with the steel toe boot, it is a bit easier than digging under the front lever.
