"We're sold out...

I also heard the dealers were getting a lot fewer bikes than they had expected this year. My local guy called me up knowing that I was planing a trade this year and gave me a heads up. He also said they sold more bikes this March and April than any other he could recall.

Hmm...so the dealer wouldn't do a statewide search for you? I don't have much 'new bike' experience but you'd think they'd find what you want and have it delivered to their store for purchase. Of course, If I were a dealer, I'd definitely expect a downpayment before getting said bike shipped store to store.
I'm sure there is competition between dealers but if they work together, don't they all win? I just sounded like a freakin liberal. lol

My objective in posting was to see if others were experiencing a depletion in inventory - not to knock this dealer.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

My objective in the post was to see if dealers were selling out their allocations elsewhere..[/QUOTE]
Seems to be "spotty" the MOCO has cut production, and many dealerships are either closed, closing, or in danger of closing. I don't know how MOCO figures the quantity of models to produce.
I think it's likely we'll see "shortages" of various models in the next few years.

Lower production numbers would be good because then wouldn't the bikes themselves hold better resale value? A production run of say 5,000 1200 sportsters would hold better resale value than say a production run of 30,000. I'm no economist but I certainly understand that concept.

plenty of bikes here too but they are living in the past HD days and charging MSRP+ and used bikes are at a premo price.
I guess al these DR, lawyer types have money to burn.
I keep looking for a good used bike..
