Progressive insurance
I was in an accident (not at fault, hit and run) on my bike. 4 months later I finally receive a check from my insurance. I had to file the claim on my insurance because the other driver had no insurance.
I get a quote from the dealership for a little over $5,000 worth of parts including labor. I have a $1,000 deductable. My insurance only sends me a check for $2,900 bucks! WTF! Two different adjusters have been out to look at my bike. The original adjuster said $3,900 bucks. Now they tell me that I have to take it back to the Harley shop and then they will send out ANOTHER adjuster to figure out the differences. Man, I'm freaking pissed.....
Do I have to accept the check for the measly $2,900? That is barley even half...this sucks!

The reason is probably because you have $1K deductible and the original adjuster said $3900. ergo a check for $2900. Sucks that it took 4 months, but at least they are willing to send out another adjuster and this time do it at a dealership so they can both come to an agreement on the cost. You will still have to pay the $1K

Negative, you do NOT have to accept that. In fact, I'd mail it back to them (certified where they have to sign for it) and contact an attorney. You'll have to decide if the cost of fighting them will be worth it considering it's only around $5,000.00 worth of damage. At the very least send it back, and let them know that is not acceptable.
Then when you're done, find a different insurance company because they'll screw you over eventually.

+1 on this, unfortunately.
Insurance companies are basically evil.

it is unfortunate that it takes so long to get it right i went through a similar situation not with progressive that took about 6 months to finally get resolved after placing 100's of phone calls talking to this person and then that person 4 different adjusters they finally settled and cut another check to me this only came after i told them the next time i had to call it wouldn't be from me but from a lawyer it is funny how the mention of that gets them moving faster

Call your states insureance commisioner, you can get the answer you need there. I sure wouldn't accept it, who knows better what needs to be done and for how much, an adjuster or the manufactures licensed dealer?
