Sounds like Wandell has riden before thats a start in the right direction

"My brother is a huge motorcycle enthusiast," Wandell said. "I always let him buy the bikes, and I would ride them."

WOW!

I hate to be negative, but I just don't understand putting a CEO in charge of this company who isn't a rider and has a passion for Harley. I see this as a huge risk. Oh well, shareholders MUST be satisfied.

Maybe he'll take up riding now that he runs the company.

What HD needs is strong business leadership at the top. HD is facing major demographic challenges going forward. It will take strong leadership and innovation to keep the company strong in the future. I wish him luck.

I hope he is not an executive of the 'make it cheaper overseas' variety.

I guess I have a different outlook on this. I think it's good they went outside the company to find the new CEO. Just because he doesn't bleed Black and Orange like most of us do, does not mean he cannot take HD to the next level.

Let's not forget that Willie G is still involved in the company. He may have a design title on his card, but his last name is still Davidson. There are also many people in decision making capacities that understand the passion for the bikes.

A CEO rarely makes a major decision on his own. Entering new markets, diversifying the product line, sending production over-seas are proposals and decisions that require the involvement of larger groups of people. Not just one man, regardless of title.

Just my opinion

I also believe he's a hatchet man - there to cut costs, jobs, and compensation.

Bad,bad idea have seen many companies go O.U.B. due to this type of hiring.

This stinks like the AMF Brunswick days. IMO Johnson Controls? Now there's a good fit.

Lets hope that he can keep things running, or put everything in a better direction. With the economy, everythings going down the crapper.

But for some possible good news, Warren Buffet and other investors are putting money into Harley to get stocks flowing and give the HD economy a little boost! Check this page out!
