NEVER Trust a Gas Pump!

OK, for all you rookies out there. Never take your hand off of the pump handle when filling your tank and pay attention to what you are doing. It only takes a couple of minutes anyway. I thought this was like motorcycling 101.

I Have NEVER used the lock filling my bike.
In fact I can't find many that have locks anymore.
When driving my car I know that pump #7 has a lock and I try to use that one.
INMHO I think you just learned a valuable lesson.

I would never lock the handle when filling my bike. I like to watch the tank fill to make sure I get it filled to the top. Only takes a couple of minutes to fill the tank so don't even see the point in using the lock.

I haven't been riding that long (in my 5th season), and maybe that's why I never take my eye off the nozzle while I'm filling. I don't even like to take a side glance at a 20-something (guy that is). Actually, in MA they don't allow the pumps to have the lock mechanism on them any more. Which when filling up the pickup is a PITA.
Vapor locks? Are those the same as "pumps with foreskins" as my hubby calls them? Now THOSE are a REAL MAJOR pain. My small hands have a huge problem trying to hold back the rubber with one hand, and pump with the other. Hmmm ... reading back, that sounds dirty.

Just take your fuel cap and wedge it in the handle and now you have a fuel lock. I do this with my truck.

HAHA! yeah might as well take advantage of being stopped to smoke a butt too right? I lvoe the couple of bikes of seen that the rider is such a hardcore smoker he/she has a push in cigarette lighter wired in on their ride. Now that's devotion.
