I also believe that Eric Buell was a former HD desinger/engineer or something.

Eric Buell was an engineer for HD. He tried to talk them into building a sport bike. They didn't so 26 years ago he started his own company. The bikes used highly modified sportster motors. The brand became so popular that HD bought it out.

Yeah, but Eric Buell was about more than making a v-twin sportbike. As an engineer with racing experience, he came up with all kinds of innovations in motorcycle design. And he didn't always work for HD.

Buell bikes are truly unique because they are truly unique--duh!--except the highly modified HD and/or Rotax engine). But that is exactly Buell's point: engine is only on component of motorcycle design; performance can be achieved through aggressive design of other components, too.

Google. Read. Drool.

I think your right - Buell worked for Harley years ago. Harley owns majority interest in Buell.

The problem with Buell has always been their bikes never went anywhere and they were so radical the general public never cared for them. Their racing bikes never really won anything and as it is, their new 1125R is stuffed in with a middleweight class because there is no way it could compete with the likes of the Gixer 1000, R1 or ZX-10. I will howevr say the bike is a great ride if you like the V-twin. You could have had an RC51 for less though.
