Well, if it says DOT (legit sticker, that is) on the back of the helmet, it had to pass the DOT testing. If your talking about their non-DOT helmets, your right. And those only failed the penetration test (don't ride near Indian Reservations and your be safe).

If your talking about a roadside inspection, no cop is going to write a ticket if the helmet has a certified DOT sticker on it and has a functioning securing system unless he's a Barney Fife type cop.

Have you ever hit the ground with one on, I don't think so, so you can't comment on that.

Yeah, I have two of them, a non-DOT and a DOT and love them.

There was a known issue with some of their earlier style helmets. They contacted all of the customers who bought that series and replaced the inner liner to bring them back into DOT compliance.

That's the only thing I can think of that gplarryv might be talking about. The DOT helmets are 100% DOT certified. I have one of the recalled ones and I took it over to their shop for the fix.

Had mine about 1 1/2 years, I was under the impression that mine was one that was recalled and called them this week. I told the gal that mine had a white liner and asked if it was recalled. She said that mine was not a recalled helmet, but if I wanted one of the newer black liner send it and they would replace it no charge. Good people great helmet!!!

Ive hit the groung more than most, fortuneitly most have been Dirt bikes and ATV's, but not all and most and Most With Out a Helmet.
I've been Lucky knock on wood.

Ive talked to DOT Labs .
You Joe Schmo, can Build a Helmet in a garage. Request all info from DOT and submit papers saying it passed inspection and you get approval for the Little Dot sticker.
DOT DOES NOT TEST EVERY HELMET FOR APPROVAL,They do Random testing. If one fails the Manf submits the fix and they give approval, but dont necicarily re-test again.

Advanced Carbon TOLD ME that there Problem was a over sanded inner surface, and that they added more resin to fix the problem,,BULLS**T.
the only way to increase strength is more layers or Fiber.
When i asked about the fixes i was given a ATTITUDE, maybe because i have some Knowledge Carbon Fiber and had spoke to DOT and learned how things work there and he couldn't B-S me ???

Im in Michigan where we have to wear a lid, and i have neck issues from past Body Abuse, and helmet size & weight is a issue. BUT, i cant see paying $175 for a Lid that wont Protect.

Carbon Fiber is Beyond strong and Ment to Protect.
I have been around carbon fiber (Auto motive Prototype and Racing for Many years) and a man can not Bend or Break ONE Single Cured Layer of Carbon Fiber.
Carbon Fiber is what the Nose's of All INDY and F1 cars are made of and designed to tank a 200+ MPH hit head on in a wall and not crush the feet. This came about when Rick Mears crushed both feet during a race

There Last Test was Aug 2008 and it FAILED again.

Here is NHTSA's Link to testing http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testin...218/index.html
Vies test's from 2000-2008

click on the numbers at the far right to see complete test results for each helmet

The Person I spoke to at DOT/ NHTSA was
Crash Test Specialist
Shawn Doyle ( Crash Worthyness Standards Dept)
202-366-1740 i think # is correct

I may not have read the test results right, but if I did it said that impact test failed on second drop. So doesn't that mean as long as you only crash once you'll be protected? Also I can't find part #'s on the ACC website, so those test results could infact be for the non DOT helmet.
