Factory warranty ends today

I just bought a 2009 Road King Classic and added the extended warranty to the purchase. I don't care what the consumer advocates say. I bought it for my own peace of mind. If I never use it, I still get that. And peace of mind means less stress, a longer life, and more years of riding. Money well spent.

Mine ran out in May. No problems yet in the 5000 miles ridden since (fingers crossed). I have 3 bikes if one of them breaks down and I don't have the cash to fix it right away I can ride one of the other bikes until I do.

Think of it this way...
You're out on a vacation... Your scoot takes a dump... Good thing you have that warranty! OR... DAMN!! This $2500 repair is gonna RUIN my trip.

Yep, happened to me while vacationing up in Canada. The day after my factory warranty expired. The starter failed to disengage on my '03 Heritage. I didn't hear it because I was wearing my ear plugs. About two miles later, the bike fried the main wiring harness, starter and fuse panel. Three days later I got the bike back with a bill of $1350.00. Thank god for my extended warranty. My cost was $50.00. Would I buy another bike without the extended warranty? No way!

i'm glad you didn't waste yr money.
this gives you the chance to start working on yr own bike, becuause really you won't need to do anything major unless, like someone said above, you get a bad egg.
working on yr bike is very rewarding

The way I look at it is if your bike is trouble free for two years under the standard warranty, why bother with the extended. And it seemed every time you take the bike in for a warranty issue you have to listen to the "that's normal" crap and fight them to do the right thing. Can't see paying big bucks to put up with that crap.

Mine just ran out on my 07 RK too. Of course, I was invited to extend my warranty. If the motor goes bad, I'll fix it myself and build it back up the way it should've been in the first place. I'm not worried though, it's been the best running MC I've ever owned. 17,000 miles.

extended warranty
right after i bought my 05 road king i had some problems with it so i bought the extended warranty though haven't had any trouble since. another thing i considered is this... i have been working on my own bikes for about 40 years have restored a 47 indian and am now building a 42 knuck bobber, so i know my way around mechanicing, but these newer bikes with all the electronics ect, are going to be like the newer cars, there only a limited amount of repairs that even the best back yard mechanic is going to be able to handle. hopefully i will never need the policy,it is like fire insurance... an absolute waste of money until you need it.
