Default Pullimng a tent camper behind an 88"

For our summer trips my father in law has offered us the use of his tent camper. I believe the brand is Time Out. It is a nice camper but pretty heavy. He pulls it behind a Goldwing without any trouble, and I have ridden the bike with the trailer back there and it doesn't cause a problem. My question is (before I spend $500 on the hitch and wiring) is this a good fit for my 88" Electraglide? The company website shows pictures of their rig behind a HD, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience here?

I think he ultimately wants to sell the camper and the price is right if it will work on the Harley.

P.S. He has also offered the use of the Goldwing (in exchange for him using the HD while we are away) but I don't see that happening.

pics would help but I see no problems except the fact you are pulling a trailor and going over the rockies might be a challenge. but I assume your bike has a gear box and that would take care of most challenges

The hitch should provide some weight specs. I don't see any problems with pulling with an 88". It would be handling that I would be concerned about.

Hitch is about $175, wiring is less than $20
It wil pull it
Drive safe, leave plenty of stopping room

Red face

In 1985 we pulled a tent camper all over the Smokie Mountains with a 85' Aspencade. It was one of those little pop out jobs that folded out one side, when you stepped inside you either stood right there or jumped up on the bed. Very small. The Aspencade did very well with it here in Florida but it struggled at times in the hills. I don't think my Ultra Classic with her stock twins would be able to do the same. Not knocking the ole gal, love her to death but I don't think she would be up to the challenge.

Great price, I was going by J&P catalog. A lot less than any I have seen. Where can I find them for that price?

Most tent campers weigh in the neighborhood of 300 to 350 pounds. Add 2 up and you've got a lot of weight. It will pull it but I'd put an oil cooler on the bike first. And, be careful stopping.

http://www.hitchdoc.com/ looks high but they offer the hidden hitch
http://www.dragspecialties.com/fatbook/19/449/7708651 less , local dearler may sell for less than list
Try custom Chrome too with your local
http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-hitch/
http://www.customcruiserchrome.com/hd_hitches

looks like drag spec iss your best bet.
Mine was $175 for a FLH but it was a long time ago

I did see one online here a few months ago for $100 used
Good luck
