Everybody wants to get on the bandwagon beating down Harley. It ain't gonna' happen. Who was it that said "...the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated..."?

I think they've made a few models targeted for the younger rider...and the advertising seems to be set for the younger buyers

He says the average age of harley buyers in the 80s was 25 to 35 years old. He pretty much lost me after that BS.

Not a valid statistic. What the guy doesn't understand is that many of us "grew" into our Harleys after riding other brands. I'm one of them.

Judging by the number of bikes with sold on them in the dealers I was in today (including a CVO Fat Bob and the Ultra they sold to a happy shopper when I was there) I think they are doing pretty good for a recession. Plus with more and more speed cameras appearing in the UK more people are looking for other ways to ride, long term I think Harley are going to do just fine!

Nope. H-D will pull through just fine. They'll have to make some changes to adapt to the current situation but they'll get through it just like they have for the last continuous 106 years of business.

HD will get through this crisis and keep on keepin on. True, HD's attract a more mature customer, but it always has done that, its not a recent phenomenon. Not many young folks have 10k to drop on a Big Twin (but sportys are priced pretty low). I just hope HD doesnt get desparate and try to make sport bikes or whatever. Buell can do those.

Why do you say that? The guy they quoted is a long time Harley salesman. I'm sure he knows something about what he's saying.
