Age wasn't the factor. They started as soon as they could sit on the seat and reach the pegs with both feet. They have all started riding their own at age 5. The Oldest grandson will be on a Yamaha XT250 for school and such as his first street bike. He has been in the dirt 10 years now.

My 2 oldest daughters would do 1500 mile weekend rides with me by the time they were 10. I took them on longer rides just to make sure they wouldnt fall asleep back there, and they loved it. My oldest is 14 now and her interests are all about being with friends so it might be tougher this year, but she's pretty proud that she's a "seasoned" harley gal. I think its a great thing to take your kids with you. It's perfect one on one time.
My youngest is 5 and she loves it when I pick her up from school on the bike.

Mine rode until the wife was 8 1/2 months ............ now he's been out for 7 months and as soon as I get another bike with a sidecar will have him blasting down the road with us............THAT's what sucks about newborns, sure kills riding time for wife & I together , just can't spontaneously say "let's go for a ride". Now a few months ago I think I saw one thread on here where a guy showed what was basically a baby seat carrier , kinda like you have on a bicycle except looked like it would attach to the rider's waist & maybe shoulders.
