There has been a post or two about Ca. to start smog testing bikes in the near future.
This was brought to my attention again last night when my son came home after his smog license renewal class.
Besides bikes,looks like desiels are on the list as well.
So what are you guys gunna do that have big bore kits,aftermarket tuners and exhaust????

Are you kidding? If the state mandates motorcycle owners smog test their bikes, who do you think will be required to pay for it? US! Just like everything else. We're taxed more than any other state in the country and we already have the highest cost of living than anywhere else. I'm sick of it! I'm tired of the liberal politicians raping and pilaging our state...and then expecting the tax payers to foot the bill for whatever social spending program flips their skirt. I'm ready to move back to Texas. Probably Austin...only a matter of time.

Yes, well said, this state is beautiful, but everything you said is true. The liberal politicians and there agendas are destroying not only California, but the rest of this country is being distroyed slowly as well by them.

If this passes, Harley among the other OE's will be hammered hard. Sales in aftermarket equip will plummet, which is a HUGE industry, especially here in CA. Bike sales will probably decrease because it will deter folks like me from buying a Harley. If I can't have exhaust on my bike to make it sound and run like a Harley, then whats the point? This will in turn extend the recession, along with all the BS tax increases, which will cause more people to lose their jobs and put small aftermarket businesses out of business (or they'll just move them out of the state), meaning that tax revenue will probably decrease since more people won't have jobs or will be leaving the state...leaving who? The bottom feeders to keep eating up all the services the productive people pay for....Its a vicious downward spiral.

help me out here fellas, do I have this right or have I completely gone off the deep end? Or are our politicians just that much smarter than us??

I love California's beauty (weather, women, beaches, etc) and I think it once was the golden state, but my standard of living is slowly diminishing here. Roads are deteriorating, illegals are multiplying at an alraming rate (please see bottomfeeder comment above ), we're rewarding people like Octomom, traffic is only getting worse, the CA economy is decreasing, our schools went from the best in the nation to one of the worst (drop-out rates are skyrocketing), and taxes are skyrocketing. So who knows where I find myself living in a few years. The weather makes it tough for me to leave

 

I'm right there with you Tom. It's only a matter of time. To the poster that attributed it to our phucked up governor... it isn't the governor man, it's the liberal-azz state legislature that killed off any of his plans to put us back in the black.
