Default True dual advise

I have a 07 ultra and am considering putting true duals on it to get ride of the cross over pipe. There are so many types of pipes out there I'm looking for advise on which ones to get. I don't want to lose power but that crossover causes so much extra heat it would save my wife's leg.
I have a stage one air kit and a race tuner on the bike with Vance and Hines Mufflers. Do I need to have the bike put on a dino after installing the pipes? Look for opinions. thanks

Default Have not thought of one yet.....

I run Reinhart true duals on my 07 ultra classic cvo and they have a great sound and performance. You already have V&H mufflers so all you would have to do is buy some headers from V&H to get a true dual and it would be a good idea to take your bike in and have it re mapped or what ever they do to the ECM.

I have the Rhinehart Tru Duals on mine and love them. I can't say that you'll see less heat on the left side by the wifes foot. I built a small stainless steel sheild that really helped. Al

That shield is awesome!
If you're looking to reduce the engine/exhaust heat most of it can be reduced through calibrating the fuel intake and timing, to further reduce it look into some ceramic coated head pipes.

Your right there are all kinds of choices, you can spend a lot or a little. It only cost me $160.00plus tax for the two pipes needed, from TCBiker. This was 7 yrs ago may have gone up a little.Good Luck

Aside from the reduced torque from using true duals, I found that they were noisier and not worth the trouble. The factory mid frame heat shields do a lot to keep heat from the passenger's legs. My wife also uses Kuryakin adjustable passenger pegs that raises her legs up some. JMHO, of course.

Default True Duals

I have seen a few people put stock 09 2 into 1 into 2 touring exhaust on their pre 09 bikes. You can pick up the parts new from from HD for around the same price as a Reinhart system, or much cheaper on e-bay. Your mufflers would work fine. You do have to buy an 09 trans oil pan as it has the mount for the crossover pipe on it. The rear cylinder pipe goes forward, then down and the crossover goes under the bike. it eliminates the heat issue. The system performs much better than any dual system on the market. Here's a link to a thread on the CVO Owners Group Forum. There are great pics of a pre 09 bagger with the 09 exhaust installed. Hope this helps.

Cheers, Ken
