I am thinking of joining the local ABATE chapter. Do alot of you guys belong? They seem to have done alot of good in the state of Maryland with keeping preasure on the politicians for some things. They seem to be best known for being anti helmet laws to the general public but I think they go far beyond that.

Momma and I both belong. We do not always go to the 'parties', as we do not drink, and they like their 'beer'. But I belong, because of the 'lobbying' effort, and the 'access' it gets, down in St Paul.

 

I am a member of abate of iowa..only reason I joined is I recieved a discount at a rally for being a member Otherwise I dont know a thing about the club....they do send out a flyer with alot of events..so thats nice

 

I have been a member for years, in Iowa, Illinois and now in Georgia. I am currently the Legislative Director for District 8, ABATE of Georgia. We are trying to kick that image of a bunch of old Harley guys who hate helmets. For instance, our legislative initiatives in Georgia this year include proceeding on a red light, anti-discrimination and enhanced penalties for FTYROW.

Also, check out the MRF. It is basically ABATE for the federal level and they are doing good work, too, like closing the HIPAA loophole.

 

I am a sponsoring member in Iowa. Not involved much, but like the discount to the rally mentioned above Bike show in Mason City April 4&5th by the way.
They definitely do a lot when it comes to the law and representing the average biker. Money well spent.

 

I joined to get into the Boogie last year and will renew to get in again this I'm sure. A great group of people who do a great deal for riders.

 

No, I'm a member of the AMA.

 

I am an AMA member as well. ABATE is much more involved on a local level than the AMA. One does not preclude membership in the other.

 

I don't like ABATE.

 

I belong to ABATE in Indiana as well as AMA.

I don't participate much in ABATE functions but I think both AMA and ABATE work for our causes.
