For a good, quality paint job, done at a shop, easily $2,000.
If you can talk to that painter and get him to do it as a side job, maybe $1,000.
!!!!!The painting is the easy part.!!!!!! All the labor (and cost) is in the prep work. If you get a cheap paint job, they'll skimp on the prep - you won't be happy.

I've seen a COUPLE (not many) of repaints done in the bike owner's garage. As said before, it's all in the prep work. There's some decent brands of rattle-can paint available that have good colors. So if you wanted just a basic color with a decal or medallion on the tank, you could really do it yourself. Just take your time in the prep, and use a tack cloth alot.

was lucky enough to find a used RKC for sale with a paint scheme that I actually liked (see my sig pic, more in my gallery). but concur with all points raised above. good luck.
