Why Harley?

RE: Why Harley?
Thank god you lost the wingnuts. I work on their bikes and hate both of them with passion. They always wine, expect something for nothing and think that you are doing them a favor letting you work on their plastic road appliances. (I would love to make a tee-shirt for the goldwings, it would read "Made possilbe with plastic". As far as what brougth me to HD, it was what I truely wanted and at 27 I was fortunate enough to buy my first street bike, a 2001 Roadking. Well that was three years and some 50k miles since. It seems I made the right choice but every now and then I get the itch for something that handles better or something with more power, but the King is more than just a bike its a lifestyle and an extension of my free spirit. So all and all Ill keep putting down miles and sharing experiences with other like minded people and maybe well share the road sometime.

RE: Why Harley?
Back to the original question, I got the Harley because I guess I've always really wanted one. I owned a CB900, moved to a Shadow, and then a Honda Valkarie Interstate. I have nothing bad to say about any of those bikes, all treated me well, but none had the "character" of a Harley.
You don't see a lot of "Honda" clubs, or "Yamaha" clubs. Not that there couldn't be, but simply that there aren't many. Why? I would submit that this is due to the diverse group of people that tend to ride those bikes, but then I realize that Harley riders are a pretty diverse group as well...today more than ever.
Maybe they don't have as many clubs because they (as a group) are not as committed to the ride as Harley owners seem to be.
Perhaps I'm completely out to lunch.
I'm of the persuasion of, "If it has two wheels, and you're on it, I like it." I'll ride with anyone, and enjoy the ride. But for me, I'm looking forward to sitting on my new Electra Glide and taking a blast through the desert!
Ride Safe!
